Size Does Matter!
According to KISSmetrics, posts with fewer characters garner higher interaction than those with more. According to their research, posts with 80 characters or fewer receive 66 percent greater interaction (Likes and comments) than ones with 81 or more characters (see chart below). Despite the fact that it’s tempting to write a 1000-character message, the reality is that most people won’t read it, let alone Like or comment on it. As a general rule of thumb, keep it short and to the point.
Ask More Questions
Question-based content is really popular at Post Planner, which is why it’s the default option in ourStatus Ideas Engine (see below). In comparison to all other sorts of text-only updates, asking people questions outperforms them all. According to KISSmetrics, posts that include questions receive 100 percent more comments than articles that do not include questions! Certainly a sufficient cause to ask questions, in my opinion!

However, according to the research carried out by KISSmetrics, the highest activity on Facebook (in terms of comments and posts) happens at 3 p.m.
The Day of the Week is Important
In addition to understanding what time of day has the most activity on Facebook, you should also be aware of which day of the week has the most activity on Facebook. According to KISSmetrics, Wednesdays are the most active days of the week – as measured by the number of posts and comments produced each day on social media. It’s important to note that just though the above-mentioned time of day and day of the week are the “most busy,” it doesn’t always imply that it’s the “ideal” time to post to your page.
Why would you post when post activity is at its peak?
I’d rather take advantage of the low-hanging fruit and publish at less active periods when there are less posts filling up the news stream.
It’s just something to ruminate over.
Less Is More!
According to KISSmetrics, publishing 1-2 times per day generates 40 percent greater interaction than posting 3 or more times per day on social media. In addition, publishing 1-4 times per week generates 71 percent greater interaction than posting 5 or more times per week (the infographic states per day here, but I’m thinking that’s an error in the original). Personally, I can’t envision a company page with a high level of engagement posting merely 1-4 times each week.
It appears to me that this would lead the company to fall off the radar and become less prominent in people’s minds. But it’s possible that I’m mistaken. The complete infographic may be found below; do you agree or disagree with their conclusions?
