Tim advises producers to look at the last 20 audience retention graphs in order to identify triggers that lead individuals to abandon their video viewing session. Apparently, one of his clients noticed that simply stating the term “module” would drive people to abandon the page.

Keep an eye on the last 20 audience retention graphs to identify the triggers that lead individuals to lose interest.

Others are so in tune with their audience retention graphs that they can predict how many seconds they can talk before cutting to a different perspective, how music affects watching habits, and how frequently they need to repeat a sacred phrase or perform another ritual to keep their viewers’ attention.

“These are the characteristics that individuals use to distinguish themselves as insiders or outsiders,” he explains.
